In Memoriam: Peter White (1950-2021)

It’s with a heavy heart that we report that our dear friend and BateWorld Chief of Staff, Peter White, has succumbed after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Peter’s resilience and good nature has been a life changing gift to people who knew him. His positivity against all odds is truly inspiring, and over the past seven years, Peter has brought an incalculable amount of professionalism to the BateWorld team. His business skills and instincts were a perfect fit for us, and he loved his work for BateWorld and TheBatorBlog with a passion. Peter brought a generous spirit of enthusiasm and wit to everything and everyone he met, and he cared deeply about friends and strangers alike. The world, and BateWorld in particular, is a better place for his presence.

Peter was a proud and out gay man from an early age, and at 18 when he was called for the draft, he took the homosexual exception. In those years to make such a claim (in Texas, no less), was an act of heroism. The stories he would tell of living through the decades, through the disco Seventies, the AIDS crisis, and more, are sadly lost now, but he was a true pioneer and deserves so much respect for the bravery and example by which he lived. Mr. White will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know him.

Thank you so much, PW. You done good.

If you would like to make a donation in Peter White’s memory, we recommend OneNTen, a charity organization for LGBTQI homeless youths.

His other favorite charity is The Human Rights Campaign
