Fifteen years ago my friend Peter asked me if I’d be interested in creating a bator website with him. I didn’t have to consider it for very long before I said yes. It seemed like a fun way to promote masturbation as a healthy, integral part of a man’s life.
We were online by September, 2009 and, suddenly, we were in an epic adventure that I could never have imagined. It’s been like a roller coaster of improbable challenges and triumphs that neither of us could have foreseen, but we held on and did it, and for fifteen years now BateWorld.com has consistently grown in membership. Ultimately it’s been the most rewarding and important project that I’ve ever been a part of.
In the beginning…
Much like an epic odyssey, the founding of BateWorld was filled with amazing adventures and huge challenges, a brilliant crew, battles with technology that would curl your curly hairs, monsters and nightmares, dreams and fantasies fulfilled, and glorious experiences with cock lovers from around the world. We’ve met so many great guys who share our vision, and I have hundreds of great memories from all over the country.
In the time since, we’ve established BateWorld as the only site of its kind. Our aim was to give a home online to a relatively small group of bators in Yahoo! groups and those who’d been part of the short-lived BateNation. Peter investigated the options for creating an adult website, and when he offered me the partnership he had all the research ready. There was a service called Zocku that had the tools to set up and run a site for those of us who didn’t know code, and BateWorld.com premiered online in September, 2009, free to all members.
Those early days were really challenging. Zocku was completely unstable, and the site crashed frequently. But we were gaining members and eventually were able to start charging for Premium Memberships to keep the site running. All the money we got was put back into creating a new platform designed from scratch. As we were building that, Zocku announced they would be shutting down, and we got the new BateWorld site online just two weeks before Zocku closed for good.
BateWorld carries on
Fifteen years later, we’re still here, still using that same platform (and the graphic interface it allows for). But the site is stable now and we have an amazing team of guys who are dedicated to our vision of community. Over the years, we’ve expanded our circle jerk to include The Bator Blog and The Bate Shop, giving us all the tools to inform, educate, and entertain our members.
I stepped back from operations a few years ago to concentrate on the career I had before BateWorld started. I’m working in animation and music production again, and in the next few months I’ll start sharing some of it here on The Bator Blog for those who might be interested. Peter is still involved, but our team takes on most of the work now.
I want to thank our members, and especially the Premium members who keep our site afloat. Premium BateWorld members make it possible for everyone to enjoy, so please consider becoming a supporter of our mission. We’re not a big corporation or a company that’s doing this just for the income. We’re a small team that’s genuinely dedicated to making the best experience possible for the widest variety of members at the lowest prices.
“These last fifteen years have been an extraordinary odyssey”
These last fifteen years have been an extraordinary odyssey, though it doesn’t seem like fifteen years at all. Our incredible team is now led by Tyler, a natural leader who has a real genius for leadership. Our Director of Development Sean joined us shortly after we started, and he’s been with us this whole time. We’re really grateful for his dedication around the clock year after year. We couldn’t ask for a better group to continue our legacy.
An enormous thank you
Happy anniversary to all of you who continue to make BateWorld the one and only site of its kind, the premier online destination for bators from around the globe.
Thank you for this, David. It’s a privilege to be able to serve this amazing community and provide a platform to them when so many have disappeared or thrown us over.
Here’s to the next 15.
