The Most Self-Important List of The 21 Most Self-Important Movies of All Time

AIRPORT 1975 (1974)

The disaster sequel to end all disaster sequels (and I mean that literally), this movie rivals its comedic counterpart Airplane! for pure comic gold. Flying with a broken camp-o-meter and a blown-out cockpit, cross-eyed Karen Black keeps aflight a 747 in crisis, while in coach, singing nun Helen Reddy serenades Linda Blair. Charleton Heston award for the presence of the incomparably self-important Charleton Heston. All-time greatest Karen Black award for the presence of the incomparable Karen Black. Because of the epic, self-important nature of this sequel, any other additions from this franchise are now closed for consideration.

  1. Guess you don’t watch a lot of foreign cinema 😉 I can name a number of bonkytits pictures that leave most of these in the dust. Week End (1967), Fitzcarraldo (1982), Diabel (1974), The Laughing Woman (1969), Last Year at Marienbad (1961), anything by Lars von Trier… And how come Zabriskie Point (1970) didn’t make this list? Classic.

  2. You forgot the award in Magnolia: The Tom Cruise Award for the presence of the incomparably self-important Tom Cruise. I know… it’s so obvious it’s redundant…
