Ask The Batemaster: The “Million Dollar Point”

Men who master “edging” know how the practice can enhance masturbation pleasure.

QUESTION: I read about this thing called the “Million Dollar Point,” a place you can press hard, right between your balls and your anus, to keep your cum from shooting out. It said this is a good way to retain your semen, like with edging, or whatever. What do you think about this one?

RESPONSE: On this particular practice, I have a strong opinion, as I have encountered it a number of times before. First, to try to forcibly attempt to prevent semen from spurting from your penis, even though you are having an ejaculatory orgasm, is nothing like learning to retain your semen for longer periods. It’s not like advanced edging, or like learning how to have dry orgasms, which are highly rewarding.

Second, to exert a lot of specific pressure on the perineum, between the scrotum and anus to pinch shut the urethra where it runs through there, may cause your semen to back up into your bladder, and you will eventually pee it out anyway.

Third: There are delicate nerves within the perineum related to erectile function, and as some long-distance bike-riders have discovered, a lot of repetitive pressure there can actually damage those nerves and cause problems with erectile function.

This is not to say that you should not rub and massage the perineum during masturbation, or any
time—for those practices can enhance pleasure. But it is not a good idea to try to forcibly prevent
semen from discharging. In fact, this defeats the real purpose of semen retention, which is to keep the erotic energy within your body instead of expelling it with your semen.

Men who master “edging” know how the practice can enhance masturbation pleasure. You may learn to experience “dry orgasms” without ejaculation, or interruption of your erections and pleasure. This may be achieved by exercising the “pee-stopper” muscle at the base of the prostate. If you can relax this, telling your body you want to pee, just as you are almost at the edge of ejaculatory inevitability, your brain may trip over into orgasm, for your body is designed so you cannot normally ejaculate and pee at once. You may be able to prevent ejaculation internally this way, relaxing the pee-stopper while you trip over into orgasm in your brain.

Drink a lot of water, then when you pee, pay close attention to where that pee-stopper is inside your body above the base of your penis shaft. This is a rather advanced practice for most male masturbators, but with effort and practice, many men can achieve it. The rewards are tremendous—some men can actually learn to have multiple orgasms this way. It is a matter of practice, of learning to monitor your arousal level carefully, with self-awareness, and practicing with that pee-stopper.

For me, the way I achieve this is when I’m very close to the edge, I tighten the pee-stopper, then when I relax the muscle, that’s when the magic happens!

A note from The Batemaster: I’m honored that the guys at Bateworld have asked me to respond to some questions from male masturbators around the world every week.

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.
