Ask The Batemaster: How to Masturbate Mindfully, Part 2 of 3

QUESTION: I am a physician, an M.D. in my 30s who has long been a fan of your teachings. I work in an Emergency Room, which is very stressful and the hours long. I’m single, so your kind of masturbation really helps more than I can tell you. I read your columns here. Could you present a simple summary of a few of the most important points on how to Masturbate Mindfully?

RESPONSE: When you’ve worked on breathing deeply into your belly as you begin your masturbation sessions, keeping relaxed during your arousal, and keep the focus on yourself—you’re on your way already. Be sure to use plenty of lube: coconut oil, Albolene, or whatever you like best. Here are the next three steps in the process as I have developed it…

4. Vary Your Strokes: Actually, there are a limitless number of ways to stroke your penis. Include your balls, your perineum, your anus, your entire body. Your imagination is the only limit. “Let your fingers do the walking,” as I do, and you may keep making discoveries for years to come. There are several reasons why it’s great to apply a variety of strokes while you masturbate: to enhance the process, increase your pleasure, and render the practice truly mindful.

For example, A.) When you apply a stroke with your right hand to your penis, after a while, switch and do the same with your left hand; using both hands alternately actually helps your brain hemispheres communicate more, as they are wired to right and left hands, B.) Try such delights as “making fire” by rolling your erection slowly between both palms, C.) pull your balls and your shaft in opposite hands, slowly and firmly in opposite directions, D.) press your perineum just behind your scrotum while your other hand is on your penis, E.) or with a backhand stroke slowly twist in a spiral motion along the shaft as you move upwards to the head of your penis.

5. Take Care of Yourself: I’ve always thought that to take good care of yourself as part of a maximum-bliss masturbation practice ought to be an obvious connection. The healthier you are overall, the more you can enjoy and explore the frontiers of erotic ecstasy you can generate through consciously masturbating. Regular exercise, at least walking or swimming often, is a lot better than being a couch potato or desk jockey. It’s also great for your general emotional and mental health. Today’s Internet porn makes it tempting to get fixated! Also, hydrate plenty, for most people these days that means a lot more H2O, plus a healthy diet with more fresh, organic fruits and veggies, and sufficient sleep. If it helps to ejaculate before you sleep, go for it!

6. Refine Your Practice: The previous five suggestions, taken to heart and practiced will immediately set you on a path to explore more prolonged states of pure penis pleasure, also higher and higher plateaus of pleasure. As part of this journey, you may already practice edging, or retaining your semen for longer periods instead of ejaculating quite so often. To begin your sessions with a gradual period of foreplay, stretching, slowing down, stimulating other non-pelvic parts of your marvelous human anatomy, is great! In the aftermath (whether you ejaculate or not), give yourself time to consciously absorb the ecstatic sensations you’ve generated. Digest the pleasure fully and allow it to nourish your entire body deeply on the cellular level.

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.
