Ask The Batemaster: I’m A Priest And Don’t Think Masturbation Is A Sin

Priest Masturbation - The Bator Blog

A Priest on the Edge!

QUESTION:

Hi, Bruce! I am a Roman Catholic priest and I love my religion! Except, since my teens I’ve loved to masturbate, which I feel brings me closer to God. I believe this is a great gift, and I’m never closer to God than when I am edging. I just don’t consider it a sin! On this one thing, I think the Church is simply wrong. Do you agree?

RESPONSE:

In my position I cannot say I disagree or agree with anyone’s religion, as all major religions hold a variety of beliefs and dogmas. These are often contradictory beliefs in various sub-groups of a major faith. However, I can say what I know: All of the scientific and medical evidence is clear on the subject of masturbation. Not only is it harmless, natural, and almost universal among humans—masturbation is considered beneficial to keep the urogenital organs healthy. It also proves useful to help you enjoy the experience more fully if you do choose to engage in partnered sex.

All three major Abrahamic religions are frequently understood to proscribe or seriously disapprove of self-pleasure. In truth, the scriptural attitudes and opinions are not always so clear as religious authorities may suggest.

Something I can say I do respect in your specific case is the fact that you keep your own mind and your own counsel on this important human matter. You are probably far happier and more balanced because of this, than you would be if you rejected self-pleasure and judged yourself negatively for it. In some ways you are probably far more effective in your official position.

Clearly you cannot advocate such attitudes in public, or among your parishioners and keep your position. But as I said, I suspect it makes you more humane and generous overall. In truth, what ultimately matters most in this regard is your personal, private, subjective experience, and your own attitudes about it. If you really do enjoy this in your own space, without harming anyone else, then the matter is surely between you and the Higher Power you believe in, right?

I don’t know if you are ever expected to act as a Father Confessor, which could put you in an awkward position. However, I do know that priests are expected to make confession, like others of the faith. Perhaps, because you do not personally consider your masturbation a sin, you do not feel the need to confess it. Generally speaking, the RCC doctrine is that masturbation is not only a sin, but a mortal sin, meaning you can go to Hell for it, if you do not confess and do the prescribed penance.

Like you, I feel masturbation is actually a step closer to the experience of Heaven on Earth. More power to you for keeping your own counsel on this matter, and for allowing yourself to enjoy one of life’s greatest pleasures!

A note from The Batemaster: I’m honored that the guys at Bateworld have asked me to respond to some questions from male masturbators around the world every week.

Always check with your doctor about any issues you might be experiencing with your sexual organs. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are important. This article’s purpose is to inform and entertain readers and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.

Penis Is My God! Is This Heretical?

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.

  1. I was glad to read that a priest shared the same beliefs towards masturbation as I do. I personally feel that masturbation is a gift from God. Some of us have been blessed from the day we were born destined to be masturbators. (All men may masturbate but not all men are masturbators). I believe God led me to the joys and pleasures of cock at the age of 5-6. (That in itself is a story too long to relate here). I believe God manifests Himself through my cock. I believe that I worship God through my cock. I too feel closer to God as I edge. I am happiest when I masturbate. I always want to return to that feeling, that spiritual feeling I experience as I masturbate. As Catholics, these are the feelings we are taught we should feel as we worship, serve and obey God. We are taught that we should devote ourselves, our wants, our desires and our joys to serving God. These are the exact feelings I have towards masturbation. I always want to return to masturbation but not to church. Going to church does not fulfill my spiritual needs but masturbation does. I could go on but I believe you all get my point. I would be delighted to have discussions with the questioner-especially as we masturbate.

    1. The point you have communicated is wonderful, Brother! Yes, all that you say makes total sense to me. Though I am not conventionally religious, at all, I can say the phrase “Heaven on Earth” goes a long way to describing how marvelous the experience of full surrender to pure penis pleasure can be! – BPG

    1. I couldn’t agree with you more, brother. The seed of mankind is indeed sacred and forms a communion bond between men and between man and the divine.

      1. Dear Brothers, selrewarder & John… Most definitely, if anything ought to be considered. sacred, it is the penis, the pleasures of masturbation… and what you say about Seed makes total sense! I always encourage men to treat our semen with respect, not as a “waste product” to clean up the mess and dispose of. Rather, use it consciously to anoint yourself, bury it in the ground or in the soil of a house plant. Or at least, if you wipe up and shower off, do so consciously, with reverence for the Sacred Seed of your Manhood! – BPG

  2. Nothing in Holy Scripture condemns masturbation. Every time a man ejaculates, he is ritual impure until nightfall. That’s it. Since we don’t observe Levitical rituals, there is no fault. Put another way, if we can eat bacon cheese burgers, which is in the same category, then we can bate.

  3. Masturbation is simply enjoying a natural gift. Embrace it, enjoy it and share with likeminded individuals. It is harming no one and taking pleasure in one’s own body.

  4. What a wonderful share, and a wonderful inquiry! i’m a former RC priest, now a sex coach (Somatic Sex Educator/Sexological Bodyworker/Sacred Intimate) and I’m in the process of reclaiming words, concepts and rituals for our Erotic Bodies, especially for my gay brothers. I consider masturbation a sacrament. It is an outward sign (for whomever wants to watch!), instituted by the Divine (they gave me this sexy body, after all!), to give grace (what is the orgasm, or the lead up to orgasm, or edging, or simply touching, but a moment of true, erotic grace?? Grace from the Divine!) I’m so glad that you continue to take pleasure in your body even though the church condemns it. My cock is as holy as my heart or my brain. My Sacred Cock fills me with joy!

  5. I am a man of faith, and although retired now, have been in leadership as a non-Catholic Christian. I agree with others, that the Bible doesn’t speak about masturbation – Onan and his wasted seed is a completely different issue. I also think of masturbation as a gift – I discovered it myself during puberty and have had it as a part of my life for 61 years (I’m 72). It never interfered with nor was replaced by married sex. I don’t think of my penis as any more holy or any more of an expression of worship than any other part of my body, but I think that a pleasure discovered as a boy alone, and enjoyed ever since, had to be a gift to me.

  6. I’m not all that religious, but have a desire to suck off a priest. The semen from a cock is a worship I can understand. Any suggestions on how to connect with one?
