Ask The Batemaster: Is This Racist?

…Every penis on the planet is beautiful in its own way.

QUESTION: I’m a good-looking black guy, and most guys who see my penis on cam say they like it. But it isn’t especially big, and sometimes I can tell they’re disappointed it’s not huge. This hurts my feelings and sort of offends me, like all black guys are supposed to be really hung like porn stars! Am I being paranoid? What do you think of all this? Is this racist?

RESPONSE: In a cam encounter with someone who has such an expectation, you actually meet an offensive stereotype. The majority of men, regardless of skin color or ancestry, have fairly modest-sized genitals that function perfectly well. Of course, some have smaller than average penises and some are endowed with larger ones.

First of all, let’s be clear that there is only one human race, our species: Homo sapiens. As such, there are many varieties of humans in terms of skin color, specific styles of features. Until quite recently many of these variations existed largely in certain parts of the world. Still, anatomically modern humans appeared somewhere around 200,000 years ago in Africa and seem to have diverged from that continent in several waves of migration since then.

Possibly adaptation to differences in the regions where they lived produced some of the visible variations. Now, even at 7.8 billion humans going on 8 billion, global humanity is all so closely related to one another in terms of our DNA that it’s shocking that we sometimes think we are so different! Genetically, the differences are extremely superficial, despite various shapes, sizes, eye colors, styles of hair, skin colors, and other variations.

There is no verified correlation between various skin colors, or other regional characteristics, and penis size. Many men suffer a sense of inadequate penis size for one obvious reason: many porn stars and exhibitionists have the confidence to allow their bodies and penises to be recorded simply because they are quite well-endowed! This too, is a kind of “unnatural selection” as opposed to the natural selection process of nature. This also misleads many men into undervaluing their own bodies.

Variety is certainly one of the great joys of human existence, and every penis on the planet is beautiful in its own way. It is not the shape or size of the organ that matters most, but how much you yourself appreciate it and that it gives you pleasure.

Anyone who makes assumptions about you based on characteristics considered “racial,” needs to be educated and encouraged to open their mind. You may understandably consider their opinions “racist.” Racism is a learned form of ignorance, and it can be unlearned as well. Sadly, racism is still a big problem in the USA and worldwide, but my observation is that with younger people and better education it is diminishing.

Your own basic attitude towards your penis seems good. I suggest you reinforce that attitude with confidence, and just don’t give attention to anyone less appreciative.

A note from The Batemaster: I’m honored that the guys at Bateworld have asked me to respond to some questions from male masturbators around the world every week.

Always check with your doctor about any issues you might be experiencing with your sexual organs. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are important. This article’s purpose is to inform and entertain readers and is not a substitute for medical advice or treatment.

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.

  1. Unfortunately, African guys, Italian guys, Puertorican guys, and many other races have somehow built a reputation of having big dicks. Chinese, Japanese and other races, on the other hand have a reputation of small dicks. Jerks (of all colors) will always make the wrong remarks are other people, penis size is only one topic.

Since there’s not a lot we can do to change the world, I recommend two things you can do to change how you feel:

    1. post a picture of your penis that will send expectations correctly. If you are actually bigger than the picture suggests, even better!
    2. if someone offends you, just block that person, they are not worth your time!

In response to your question “is it racist?”, a question for you is “does it really matter?”

    Hope this helps!

    1. Have you even read the blog entry? If so, please explain to me, why do you still use the racist term “races”.

It weren’t the members of brown, black, asian and indigenous men themselves who built a reputation on their penis sizes. Why on earth would they, when they do not like that? It were clueless or otherwise misinformed members of white skinned who did.

So you do not want to change those who do the racist discrimination. But you wanna change the feelings of the discriminated. As in: „Learn to accept racism!“ Now, I have read everything! I mean seriously: Of all the web pages there are, THIS would be the unique one for the misinformed to educate themselves. By simply doing exactly that, which is the prime activity here: browsing the picture albums! And paying attention to what they see, for penises‘ sake!

Not wanting to answer the question “Is this racist?”, which diplomatic Batemaster already did so perfectly, or: you actually taking his answer back and confronting those, who are targets by this form of racism, it shouldn’t matter to them – that is breathtakingly paternalizing.

And I am sorry to have to say that: You may mean well, I presume and hope, but your entire comment sounds racist to me nevertheless. So I am asking you: If you yourself can’t change the racists you deplore: „Can you at least change yourself?“

      Hope this helps!

  2. I’m a black gay man in the same boat as the guy who posted the question. While I agree that the guys making the racial assumptions need to be educated, the problem is that these assumptions typically pop up in the middle of a sexual encounter. At that particular moment, I’ve never felt like educating anybody. I can’t imagine myself conducting a class on unlearning racism in the middle of a cam session. I also feel like it’s not my job.
