Edging, Frequent Ejaculations and the Prostate

Bate Master Logo
QUESTION: I have heard that frequent ejaculation is good for the prostate, but I wonder if sustained edging over a period of days, weeks, and in some cases months, is harmful to a man’s prostate?

RESPONSE: Your prostate gland gradually grows all during your life as a human male, from around the size of a table grape in your teens, to more like a walnut in size by the time you are middle aged or older. With arousal, this organ just below your bladder behind the base of the penis swells a bit and grows firmer and more sensitive. When you ejaculate, it pulsates and helps to shoot semen through your penis.

How often you should ejaculate is: whenever you wish!

The so-called “studies” that frequent ejaculation will prevent prostate problems later in life, or prevent prostate cancer at any age, are not at all conclusive and are based on erroneous assumptions. When you are aroused and stimulating your penis for a while, your prostate naturally becomes involved and gets exercised. Don’t get stuck in one position while you masturbate—move around, stand, do knee bends, involve your balls. Let the bliss spread through your entire body. Try pushing down internally with your pelvic diaphragm, below your belly, and you can generate a glow of internal pleasure directly from the prostate.

What has not really been studied by science or medicine is the effect of longer-term edging—that is masturbating without ejaculating so often—though many men discover this is a great way to experience more pleasure than they ever felt before. No doubt it is healthy to ejaculate fairly often, perhaps every few days or every week or two, to keep your fluids circulating. What is more important than the length of time without ejaculating is to keep your pelvis and genitals relaxed during arousal and stimulation. Your balls may become sensitive, but should not be sore, if you relax your pelvic area. Use and exercise your penis, balls, that entire region of your body: ENJOY!

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.

    1. Do Women when they get into their 40’s tend to masterbate more than early years ?

My Wife is 45 and we do have sex a few times a month and I’m 55 and might masturbate a few times a month without her knowing , we keep lube in the night stand next to the bed and I check it to see if it’s been used and most of the time it appears to have been used , she has trouble sleeping at night and when this accurrs she moves into the spare room or goes on the couch , one night I sneaked out of bed only to see her masturbating on the couch , she didn’t no I was watching , I knew she masturbated probably before work since I leave way early before she wakes , but it was kinda a shock seeing her first hand masturmating .

It just seems she might be masturbating way more know than the past , again she’s in her 40’s now .

I would like to have more sex with her , so it worries me she is masturbating more than asking me for sex

    1. I’m not a doctor and cannot offer medical advice, however, as you know the prostate normally continues to grow gradually all your lifetime. Beyond that, there can be several causes of enlargement, which may manifest the symptom of frequent urination, or not being able to easily empty you bladder completely. Never hesitate to consult a second medical professional for another opinion, even if you consider who you are working with reliable. Sometimes what seems a health issue is a part of the body in a sense “asking” for attention, so whatever else you do, see if it is comfortable and feels good to massage the prostate with a finger or butt plug. Personally, I’d possibly consult several professionals, but of course, make your own choice for any further treatment.

  1. Are there any mastirbation coaches in Manhattan NYC?
I would love to work with one.
What is the best way to meet men for mutual jo?
    Thanks

    1. The very best way is to search and also post these requests on BateWorld.com. I just glanced at ….community page drop down, then groups: There are 200 groups related to coaching!

    2. My site Erotic Engineering, AKA eroticengineering (dot) com offers 10 FREE coaching video classes in Mindful Masturbation, which paves the way for the more advanced practices I call Male SoloSex Magick. Through that site I also offer masturbationcoaching via video conference. Be aware that there are reliable, experienced, trained masturbation coaches out there… and some guys who just want to get off may also put out such a shingle to attract you. I’m not saying that’s bad, but I’ve observed that motivations for presenting yourself as a “masturbation coach” may vary widely.

      1. I jack off 6 to 8 times a day unless I can get my brother to suck my cock he never says no. But then I have to fuck him. If you want to watch me jack off, let me know, and I’ll do it.

          1. I hope you are both members of BateWorld where you can talk and potentially hook up!

    1. I’ll bet you’d get quite a few responses if you posted this question on Bateworld.com. Lots of members in Kentucky.

    1. Good luck! There is nothing like having a playmate to share your bliss. At the same time, it’s always great when you can get off solo, as well, since that does not depend on the cooperation of others, which can be a bit tricky.

  2. Question for you men: I have Retrograde Ejaculation due to failed back surgeries. Does anyone know of any recent discussion groups regarding this subject? My dick has no problems getting hard, I just have dry orgasms. I’m a 55 yr old gay man with a partner.
I’ve have this problem since 2006.
    Thanks fellas,
    Rick from NW Arkansas

    1. Wanted to be sure you had seen TheBateMaster’s previous column on this very topic!
      https://www.thebatorblog.com/bate-facts/ask-the-batemaster/ask-batemaster-prostate-ejaculation/
I know of no current groups, but you really should consider either starting one yourself, or put this out as a topic for discussion on the Community Page of BateWorld.com. This is exactly the kind of discussion the BW community encourages. The reason I personally jumped in is that I have had 2 prostate surgeries (TURP’s), with exactly the same outcome. My climaxes are harder and better than ever in my adult life, but..to your point…there’s no “show!” No matter what we say, we guys really are programmed to appreciate the visual..the shooting, etc. However, I’ve learned to (waiting for the appropriate time) just be open with playmates, and it’s all worked out fine. Thank you so much though for raising the issue; it’s a situation that so many men are experiencing, but before TheBateMastor’s column, I’ve seen nothing written about it.

      1. Thank you so much! I just found this website and I find it awesome so far!
Yes, I agree. The “show” has always been my favorite since I used to have explosive ejaculations and now I have nothing. Also to your comment, I too have the most intense climaxes in my adult life but I still miss my cum shooting & flying out like it used too.
I’m going to search and see if there are any discussion groups about it on BateWorld community page.
Again, thank you for your reply and help. It does make it better when I talk to someone that has the same issue as myself.

  3. I also have times where I shoot, shoot barely nothing and other times dry .Id like to have a coach . The thing is that I live in the Sunrise Florida area

    1. You should just post that request on the Community Page of BateWorld.com. Guys connect that way all the time, including coaching via skype or just phone for geographic reasons. I just did a quick search of the site and for “Coach,” they show
      25 profiles, 4 events, 112 albums/photos, 67 videos, 200 groups, and 134 blog entries
      Let us know your progress!

    2. I live in Sunrise Florida near the Sawgrass Mall . Would love to have a coach , Since i moved here from Fort Lauderdale its been hard to find one here

  4. I enjoy intense sexual pleasure from very very long sessions of edging without ejaculation but I have experienced problems with discomfort in the area where semen is stored and I believe it is from this

    1. Train yourself to keep the pelvic region relaxed while you are aroused… breathe deeply into your belly… change positions… move around while you masturbate. Discomfort associated with semen retention usually results from starting too long in one position, and tensing up muscles too much while you masturbate.

  5. Am jamiu from nigeria i do masturbate at least 6 times a week is it good or not good for my heath or not….

  6. I was confused during my teenage years upto now regarding the issue on masturbation. I just want to ask if masturbation is really a sin? Without watching porn, without seeing pornographic images and most especially without lusting with someone. Hope that you can help me regarding this matter

    1. People have many beliefs around sin. You may need to think for yourself on this, and question authorities who think they know everything. Remember that many church authorities have always been bitter old men. If you want be accurate, not just saying what later interpreters say, int he Bible itself there is no mention of masturbation. It is not condemned or encouraged. The story of “Onan” is actually about coitus interrupts, a man withdrawing from a woman’s body before he ejaculates, shoes semen falls on the ground. By definition, “sin” is really the feeling of separation from God, and you might feel that way, but if you believe in God, how can you be separate from God? Many men Know feel that masturbation is in fact a path to the Divine, or a connection with God. You will have to make up your mind, but I think there can be nothing more pure, innocent, and harmless than male masturbation, nothing less sinful. On the contrary, though I’m not really religious, I’d say it’s godly, a gift from the Creator.

  7. Hi, I’m Marie, 66 years old and have been masturbating since I was 12 when I reached puberty, I was seen on numerous occasions, which eas a huge turn on snd still is.

    1. I am 61 years old and have cum regularly since about the age of 13. I love to masterbate ,usually at least twice a day.Cumming and ejaculating is an intensely pleasurable experience. If time allows I can masterbated for up to an hour before orgasm.
