Ask The Batemaster: The Taboo of JO With Family

Ask The Batemaster

The reasons for this taboo involve such matters as the compromising of parental authority, and exploitation of underage guys.

QUESTION: So, what’s the big deal? My father is really cool, and he’s the one who taught me to masturbate. It was my idea, and I asked him about it. We even did it in the same room sometimes, though we never touched each other. I’m grateful for it, and we’re still good friends, in fact I really love him, though we don’t do that anymore. Was this really so wrong, like I hear?

RESPONSE: This specific subject touches into matters that are pretty much taboo on Bateworld: intergenerational incest. However, I’ll tell you honestly that quite a few men ask me about this and tell me about such personal experiences, far more often than I can openly discuss it here, given my position as an erotic activist and a sex educator. Technically, this kind of incest is usually considered both immoral and illegal, in some cases depending upon the ages involved.

The reasons for this taboo involve such matters as the compromising of parental authority, and exploitation of underage guys. Between male family members, there is not the issue of possible pregnancy, of course, still this is considered a serious transgression of the family and social order. If you were under the age of consent, the legal aspect is clear-cut, as this would definitely be considered illegal.

While I cannot condone such situations as you describe, in reality this is actually an area that is not subject to simplistic formulas to determine what is right and wrong. At the same time, I do condemn any older male seeking sexual contact with an underage fellow. Also, within the family, this is truly a different matter than with two unrelated fellows, both of legal age, even those of quite different ages. The latter situation would simply be a personal choice.

Human nature is complex, and aside from the legalities involved, an aspect that cannot easily be quantified or determined by other people is the matter of this being consensual, of how you say it was initially your request, that your relationship with your father is warm and loving. Also, this apparently did not continue for a prolonged period, but was a sort of educational and inspirational interval that he agreed to.

Your account and your question place me in an awkward position, as what you describe cannot be advocated on this site. I am not qualified to judge what is a very personal, very intimate, and very private experience. Many men tell me they have fantasized about such situations, and part of the appeal is the forbidden aspect. A fantasy is often very different from realities.

You seem to suggest that not only were you not harmed, but that you benefited. If so, you are very fortunate. In such a situation, the outcome is not always so benign. We do not live in an ideal world, and in a more ideal world, younger men of legal age could be trained by experienced and kindly older men, not related by blood, but related by sympathy, in the arts of masturbatory excellence.

I cannot give you a definitive answer, but I hope I’ve made clear some of the complex of reasons that this is not a clear-cut, easily codified matter. Legally it’s considered wrong, even criminal, while in human realities, such a situation is not so simple to assess one way or another.

How Bruce P. Grether became the Batemaster

Among his earliest memories, Bruce recalls seeing an adult man’s penis swing about anchored in a nest of curly brown hairs when the man was changing clothes. That penis fascinated him and he somehow knew it was of major importance. He also remembers how good it felt to slide down a stairway banister or to climb a tree with pressure between his legs sending delicious sensations all through his body.

At an early age, he played doctor with another boy his age, and the frottage he enjoyed as they rubbed their penises together made him feel One with All Things.

He was older, maybe 9 or 10 years when he figured out how to actually masturbate while taking a shower. Immediately Bruce became a fan of self-pleasure, though, with puberty, he became extremely shy about his body being seen. Still, when his pubic hair sprouted and his penis grew bigger, it astonished him how incredible the sensations could feel with adult genitalia.

All through his 20s and 30s Bruce loved masturbating and did it often. Something kept tell him though, that there could be more to it. None of the books he read about Tantra and Taoist erotic cultivation provided simple how-to instructions. Finally, in his early 40s, he came upon Joseph Kramer’s video about male genital massage: FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Having no playmates to try this with, he tried it on himself. In the process, he discovered what he soon named “Mindful Masturbation.” For 6 weeks he masturbated for hours every day, and did not ejaculate once! This was the Penis Paradise he had been looking for since his adventures playing doctor as a young boy. He was changed forever and lost most of his shyness and insecurities.

Bruce began to listen deeply to whatever his penis told him. This way he learned more and more about male masturbation, the penis, and he studied human sexuality. Soon he was hired to write professionally for the sex education site JackinWorld (dot) com, which he did for some years under the name “Bruce McFarland.”

Since then, his erotic activism is more radical and he uses his actual given name: Bruce P. Grether, AKA the Batemaster. He has hosted workshops and now does online masturbation coaching. In 2012 his best-selling book THE SECRET OF THE GOLDEN PHALLUS was published and with his handsome young friend Blue Tyger he created the Erotic Engineering site to explore advanced male self-pleasure practices.

Bruce considers himself a Missionary of the Male Mysteries and his work continues.
